– With a campervan

Some of the small streets of St-Valery-sur-Somme are forbidden for campers but in any case we would not recommend to enter the village. There is a huge and quite nice motorhome area just outside the village a 20 minutes walk from the main street. It costs 12€ for 24 hours and includes the services. The motorhome area can also be used to visit Saint-Valery-sur-Somme for a few hours. On long week-ends it can be quite crowded though. We used this place when visiting the area and enjoyed a sunny week-end with the possibility to install our chairs on the grass.

There are also a few camp sides next to the village. One popular option is Camping Le Walric, which provides facilities like electricity, water hook-ups, showers, and waste disposal. Another choice is Camping Les Cygnes, situated close to the beach and offering a range of amenities. You should book a spot in advance in order to be sure to get one.

– With kids

Saint-Valery-sur-Somme is a very family-friendly destination. The city and the walk along the promenade can be easily done with a stroller.

Some of the excursions (although not all) are also feasible with kids and small babies.

When taking the steam train with a baby, we recommend to take a baby carrier on board or to just carry them in your arms. You should also chose a seat towards the middle of the train in order to avoid too much noise. The train has a special compartment for bigger luggage where you can leave the stroller during the ride.

In 1430, after being captured by the Burgundians, she was eventually brought to Le Crotoy, where she remained imprisoned for several months. Le Crotoy also has a big motorhome area only 5 minutes from the city center away. Depending on the spots, it offers a nice view on the bay. The parking costs 9 € per 24 hours and short-term parking is available.

When we visited Le Crotoy over a long week-end in May, the area was full and we decided to stay at Saint-Valery-sur-Somme. From there, we took the steam train to visit Le Crotoy.
