Travelling through Sweden by campervan is one of the most peaceful ways to explore northern Europe. With endless forests, quiet lakes, open roads and beautiful coastal landscapes, the country feels perfectly suited for slow travel. It is not a destination where you need to rush from one famous landmark to the next. Instead, Sweden is best enjoyed through simple moments: stopping by a lake, cooking outside the van or driving through quiet landscapes surrounded by nature.
Exploring Europe by campervan is one of the most rewarding ways to travel. The freedom to stop whenever a landscape catches your eye, spend the night close to nature and follow scenic roads at your own pace makes every journey unique.
The sublime Bohuslän Coast is known for being one of Sweden's most beautiful regions. Situated between Gothenburg and the Norwegian border, the coast is famous for its 8000 small islands and its special reddish granite which is most beautiful during sunset. But its rocky islands not only create a great scenery, they also offer amazing possibilities for kayaking.
With what is going on at the moment, travelling in a campervan is definitely a great option and Sweden is one of the most camper van-friendly countries in Europe. It has a very open policy with regards to camping and other outdoor activities and it is one of those countries which is not overcrowded even during the summer months. With its beautiful wide nature, its deep pine forests and its 100.000 lakes Sweden is an ideal campervan destination. This is our 3 weeks camper van itinerary in the Southern part of the country.
The first trip after buying our camper van was going to Sweden, one of the best camper van destinations in Europe where wild camping is not a problem. This is the itinerary of our three weeks road trip in this Northern European country with its more than 100.000 lakes.
When thinking about Sweden, most people probably think of the lakes with its red cabins, wide landscapes and... well... reindeers. While we did see lots of lakes and even more red cabins on our road trip in southern Sweden, we somehow missed the northern wilderness and its special fauna. This is why, we decided to go North and experience another Sweden, a much more lonely Sweden with unpaved roads, an uninhabited landscape as far as the eye can see and, of course, reindeers, these beautiful animals from the North.
